Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it” (I Corinthians 12:27).
Since the task of the church is too great for any one person to accomplish God has provided many skills through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We are told in I Corinthians 12:7 that each believer has been given a gift for the common good of the church. God understands the addage, “Many hands make light work” very well. By giving the members of the church varied gifts and skills, He lightens the burden for all and makes possible the smooth carrying out of HIs purposes among men.
When you offer up your gifts to Christ and His church you help bear the weight of ministry to the community in which you live. Through you and your brothers and sisters in Christ the Holy Spirit turns common people into instruments and organs through which others see Jesus. The Holy Spirit and His gifts are not simply desireable in the lives of individual Christians, they are absolutely imperative.
